Actors are great.
But it’s a hard fucking job.
And as we all know, the job is not the job. The not job is the job.
The not job is the time that I am not employed as an actor.
It’s where nearly all of the hard work resides.
It’s in the not job that our self confidence falls away and we feel like crap.
It’s in the not job we convince ourselves that we don’t belong.
It’s in the not job that we begin to flounder for direction.
It’s in the not job that we get kicked in the ass just when we thought we were on our ass and couldn’t be kicked in the ass any more.
But
during these not job weeks, months or years,
If we are lucky,
if we are very lucky
we are gifted a moment of clarity
a moment of rock bottom do or die
where we have become so tired of begging, from an industry that doesnt care, begging for them to give us that sweet, sweet not job pain relief
that we realise that we are allowed to do something extreme.
We are allowed to tell them to fuck off
We are allowed to reject the current power structures.
The gatekeepers and the insiders.
And we are allowed to choose ourselves.
To say I refuse to wait for you any longer.
I will make the work I want to make without your permission.
Once you see this, it’s very hard to unsee it.
It’s why this community was founded.
It’s why this newsletter exists.

- Social media is mostly garbage but we feel like we must be on it. However, there is an alternative. We’ll be exploring ways to use the internet to be creative, build a fulfilling career whilst not feeling like we need to play the shitty social media game.
March
30 Days of 30 Self-Made Actors
- Every day in March we’ll be focussing on a maverick actor who has found success (we are loosely defining this as financial freedom) in an unconventional way, breaking down the exact steps they took to get there, and sending you the tactics.
April
How much do actors really get paid?
- We’ll take a looky look at what I earned this year – where it came from – did I actually become a 6 figure actor? How much did I spend on domains.

Growing this little community is one of our big goals next year so I am going to be slightly more bullish on getting the newsletter in front of more actors who’d benefit from it. And I’d love your help.
